Happy Birthday Triplets!

The babies were born today!!! Orlando was born first at 3:44 a.m. He weighs 4 pounds 5 1/2 ounces and is 16 1/2 inches long. Mercedes is the middle child. She was born at 3:45 a.m. She weighs 3 pounds 4 3/4 ounces and is 15 3/4 inches long. Reese is the baby of the family. He was also born at 3:45 a.m. He weighs 4 pounds 7 1/2 ounces and is 16 1/2 inches long.

All of the babies are doing well, although they will have to stay in the NICU for a few weeks. The doctor said a conservative estimate could be their due date, so that would mean September 4, but we are hoping to have them home before then.

Rose is doing great. Her blood pressure was a high at first. (Dr. Morales said she had preeclampsia.) However, the doctor has that under control and she is happily resting at the hospital.

The babies are doing great as well. They will all be treated with Bilirubin lights to prevent jaundice. Other than that, Orlando is doing fine. Mercedes is getting extra lipids to fatten her up. Reese is having trouble with apnea so he has a CPAP machine blowing puffs of air into his nose to remind him to breath. That causes air to build up in his stomach so he has a tube in his throat to help let the air out. All in all, it looks worse than it really is. All of the babies will need to be fed by tube, because babies usually can't suck well enough until the 34th week of pregnancy, so we are a week and a half too early.

I will try to keep the blog up to date. Enjoy the pictures... I will try to pick a good picture for each baby. To help you know who is who, Mercedes is in the middle, and Reese has a little tube in his mouth.
